How To Create Sales Systems That Sell For You
A Sales Funnel vs. A Sales System (and Why Your Offer Matters More Than You Think)
Most marketing coaches teach you to build a sales funnel.
Some are complex while others are fairly simple, but they all follow just about the same steps.
In a typical funnel, you take traffic (an audience) → grab their attention → spark interest → get engagement → ask for action → deliver value → make an offer → get the sale.

Here’s what that might look like in real life:
A chiropractor runs Facebook ads to a workshop (traffic + interest). Someone clicks “learn more” (engagement), lands on a simple page that sells the free workshop, registers (action), attends the workshop (value), and is offered a discounted new patient visit. They have a great first experience (more value) and are then sold into a care plan.
It works.
But it’s linear.
Funnels have a start point and an end point. Which means every month, you’re right back at the beginning—chasing new leads to refill the funnel.
I much prefer a different approach: The Closed-Loop Sales System
The steps are almost identical, with one key difference.
After the sale, we keep going.
We deliver.
We nurture.
We fuel referrals.
When this is done well, it actually solves the traffic problem for you. Referrals tend to jump straight to the action step, which makes your sales process dramatically more efficient over time.

This is what I call a Referral-Driven Sales System—a business model that not only helps you make sales, but helps you keep making them with less effort.
Most people make a mistake when trying to create a system on their own.
The starting point is not your content, it's not the top of your funnel...
The starting point is your offer.
Your offer is the engine. Without it, there is no system to build around. And if your offer is fuzzy, misaligned, or missing key pieces, your sales system will never convert consistently.
Everything depends on you knowing:
-
What you’re selling
-
Who it’s for
Once your offer is clear and compelling, the rest of the system can actually work.
At its core, your offer is simple:
-
The problem it solves
-
The results someone can expect
-
The investment required
Your offer is the invitation.
The portal to their transformation.
Let Me Be Brutally Honest for a Minute
Most business owners I work with who are struggling to make sales have an offer problem.
Either their offer is vague…
Or it’s defined but not very compelling.
I was recently working with a health coach who had about 5,000 offers. She let clients dictate what they wanted, customizing every agreement.
While being flexible isn’t inherently bad, the lack of consistency meant she could never validate an idea or clearly market her services. Her clients were all over the place, different ages, different goals, different problems.
When people asked what it looked like to work together, she froze.
Sales conversations felt hard because she wasn’t standing in a place of authority. In trying to accommodate everyone, she diluted her expertise. That led to inconsistent clients, inconsistent results, and inconsistent income.
The other thing I often see is defined offers that highlight the wrong things.
Here’s what I mean…
Imagine you want to take a trip to a beautiful lakehouse. You plan the trip, dreaming about being on this beautiful lake with your friends and family. You think about all of the fun you’re going to have on the boat, paddleboarding, or just reading a good book by the water.
You think of the uninterrupted time you spend with the people you love, the core memories you create for your children, and you’re flooded with happy thoughts and good feelings. These feelings motivate you to do the work: packing, mapping your travel, putting gas in the car, getting the kids all loaded up, and hitting the road.
In this process, are you ever dreaming about the car sitting in your garage that will get you there? Maybe briefly… only to make sure there’s air in the tires and gas in the tank. But generally, that's not top of mind.
In fact… the long car ride might be the only part you're not looking forward to. The vehicle is the part that feels like “work”, but you don't let that stop you because of all those happy emotions that are waiting for you on the other side of the long drive.
The vehicle is simply the thing that's going to get you from where you are to where you want to be.
Now think about your offers.
Are you talking about the destination or are you trying to sell the vehicle?
No one wants to buy the vehicle.
Here are a couple of examples:
Chiropractic:
- 6 Chiropractic Sessions (Vehicle)
- Getting to the root cause of your health concerns, improved vitality, better sleep, faster to bounce back from illness (Destination)
Business coaching:
-Bi-weekly business coaching sessions (Vehicle)
-Consistent $20k months while freeing up 10 hours of your time/week (Destination)
Personal Training:
-30 Different workouts and customized meal plans (Vehicle)
-Losing 10 lbs, building muscle, and feeling confident in your bikini again (Destination)
You get the idea.
Creating an offer that is so irresistible it will sell itself to your ideal clients is not only difficult, it is an art. And art that most service providers have NO IDEA how to approach.
You can hustle and grind to get more leads, get them to engage with you, book appointments and stay in your world… but if you have a mediocre offer, that process will NEVER feel easy.
Creating a REALLY great offer is a key piece of my client's success.
